I've been camming on mainstream sites in an attempt to supplement myself until my indie site gets off the ground. One thing i've noticed is that I always have trouble with the software. I get complaints of freezing, lagging, and most recently, I was on iFriends this evening and my friend dropped in to see me. He said that the audio was distorted, that it was cracking. Then my video started freezing.
Here are my specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
6 GB RAM
Download Speed: 20.45 MBps
Upload Speed:2.05 MBps
And my CPU usage is minimal.
My camera is a Logitech C920 Pro
I did a brief Skype test with my friend after logging off of Ifriends. he said that the issue was nonexistent on there.
My cam is fine, my pc is fine. Yet I always seem to have issues with the chat interface. I don't splitcam, so nothing is cutting my bandwidth. All of the tech support across the various sites I've been on have not been able to tell me what could be the problem. In fact, they concur with me that I am golden in terms of having more than the minimum and recommended spec amounts to broadcast successfully.
Which leads me to believe that whether the software works for you depends solely on how long you've been camming, how much money you make, and who you know. Along with a few other factors...
Loving your job that you can't do because of stupid techie issues really sucks...
Anyone else have these issues?
PS- Not sure if it is relevant, but I've been on SM, Camflare, and Ifriends as the most prominent big boxes
