Having sound coming from a laptop near the mic (especially mic built in) sounds like shit. It seems so many people don't realise this. I see it everyday.
My setup -
Two laptops. One with the trusty www.grooveshark.com playing in the far corner of the room (also running seprate stuff, skype etc) and one with my cam feed etc. Set the levels just right and make it ambient for both yourself and your viewers. Ask people if it sounds ok.
If i am not with two laptops I use a small DAB radio with USB slot to plug in a playlist too.-- Ideal when in hotel / traveling etc so not consuming bandwidth.
Also, let's face it, not everyone likes your music. Losing even a small % of viewers to your choice of music alone is still too big a %. Personally I go with instrumental only, chill out, some world music or classical etc. Saying that...Led Zep works awesome too.
Also never forget silence is golden.
