I've only recently gotten a good balance of motivation/patience for streaming, and so the past 10 streams have been wonderful, have hit high goals and low goals. I have cammed in the late night - anytime between 1am to 5am to be exact (I'm GMT +1), which seems to attract a few handfuls of mainly American/Canadian viewers who are very kind; they tip or talk. Unfortunately, the closer I get to 5-6am, the quieter the room gets.
The times you cam are definitely important. I tend to have a lot of viewers in my room (80-130 on average) during any time between 9am to 2pm (GMT +1), but
very few tip and most will watch you silently, which is a huge shame. It is what it is. Good if you want followers, I suppose, though what's the point of getting a follower if you don't ever see them in your chat?
How long are you camming for in total per day?
From personal experience, the average time it takes for me to hit my low goal ($50/1,000 tokens) is 3 hours - which I believe from reading other experiences is about average for token sites - but since I get a good amount of privates, it's about 2 hours, now.
(One negative about the private shows are that once I return to free chat, it does take some time to build viewers again, and I can go an hour without being tipped due to the sudden disruption. Then the next hour, I'll hit my low goal in a private. That's camming for you
)
The one time I did a shower show, only one or two people tipped. However, I had put "shower show" as a goal, I didn't start streaming in the shower. I believe that if you want to motivate people to tip you, put these shows as goals - don't start them when nobody has tipped. Another suggestion is to, as seen above, flip your streaming times to see if certain timezones work best for you.
