hi all,

i just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with developmentally disabled customers and have any advice about how to deal with the situation. it feels morally questionable to me to perform for some people who are likely mentally disabled (NOT physically).

thanks so much.

Hi Molly,
Great question. Totally understand your concerns. If it were me I would approach it with an extra set of screening questions to make sure he knows what he is paying for. If he is talking slower or forming sentences in a more simplified fashion, even with no physical limitations it can throw ya off when trying to understand a person's cognition. Keep in mind that some brain functions (whether from genetic, birth, injury or disease ) can debilitate a person's ability to speak more fluently, casting doubt on their intellect and comprehension. I service a few disabled fellas and am proud to be able to give them some satisfaction, especially when they struggle with so much in life. Just ask more questions until you feel comfortable with his answers. He could be just looking for a chat partner too. Good luck.
