A bit ago, I shared in an unrelated thread, an issue I had with SM. Since I've been working with them (close to a year), I've never seen Myself listed on the site, in ANY of the niches for which I was applicable. I thought it was because I'd blocked My country, and therefore My own IP - but turns out, even people from other parts of the world could never see Me listed, unless they fav'd Me, or searched an associated tag.
For months, I've been in relay emails with SM, explaining the situation, supporting My confusion with screen caps I'd taken, and other performers and clients took too to help. For months, I was told that it was because I didn't run the encoder - but I had, for about a month, with no difference made. I was still invisible.
Someone here, I really forget who, suggested that it was because I had geo-block on, and therefore wouldn't be listed. It didn't seem to make sense, so I scoured their ToS for some validation. I went through My initial confirmation emails, and I saw nothing like this. But in the geo-blocking tab itself I found this:
"Geographic blocking will remove you from the sort and searches of non-logged in members. Additionally, any advertising or additional exposure of your profile will also be disabled. If you restrict ANY geographic location (not just your own) - you will not be available in the site search results or similar models for logged out users and members in the restricted area. This will impact the volume of users in your room as less people will be able to find you, and may impact your earning potential."
When I enabled geo-blocking in December of last year, this text was NOT there, and all that existed was the closing line. I find this policy to be grossly unfair. I have to expose My live feed to My country, if I want the opportunity to make money with them? Additionally, they were not and are often not transparent with their policies or functional m.o.'s at all - when this adjustment was made to the geo-blocking policy on MY account - I don't know. Maybe it was there from the get go for some of you, but this wasn't My experience at all.
So here we are now, a year after the fact, I'm finally visible on the site, cautiously looking forward to making more money, but now feeling incredibly vulnerable and exposed. It's a double-edged sword that I wish I could stab SM with, but alas...they've been the only big box site that works for Me.
