The Shot

I know there is a thread on birth control, but this is a topic specific to one type. So I got the Depo shot about 2 1/2 months ago. I am excited about the aspect of not having my period. I have only ever been on pills before. The nurse had told me that I would probably get my period during the first cycle of the shot (you get it once every 3 months) and I did. But it also came with a never-ending headache, and a seemingly endless period. I have gained a slight amount of weight, but I was ok with that since I was unhealthily thin. I have also had some strong emotional changes that are overwhelming at times.

I am unsure if I want to get another Depo shot, so I was just wondering what other girls' experiences were with this shot? Did you get headaches? Did you get your period in the beginning? Did you get over-emotional? Do you like this shot? It owuld be wonderful to hear some detailed accounts of your experience with this and how long you took it for. Thank you, ladies!

I do not like the Depo shot with a huge passion. I have heard of so many friends of mine having so many issues with it ranging from bloating and mood swings to extremely hard to ever get pregnant if you wanted when off.

I personally do regular ol BC pills but with the advice and blessing of my DR I take my packs back to back. Ie no week or period in between. When I first started and still every once in a blue moon I may get some light spotting but nope that is it. My Doc did recommend taking the week and having a period every few months or so just to kinda reset my body but I have done it and theres been times Ive gone up to 6 mos or so though I did notice if I go more than 4-5 months I may get touch more emotional on week should have had my period.. or so my BF says lol

Anyways thats my two cents and what I do.
