Video Editing/scene transition programs

Hi friends! I just finally ordered a camcorder so that I can make better quality videos. I'm not a techy person at all, so don't know much about video editing. I know already that I'll obviously be shooting in segments and then putting the pieces together to create the whole video, but am mostly concerned with scene transitions and not having them be choppy/having them be cute and seamless. What editing programs do you use for your videos/do you have any advice on which is best for scene transitions?

I've been using Filmora X for the past few months. You just choose your transitition style and drag and drop it onto your where your clips join. Most software will work along the same lines. I know Adobe elements was the same. There is a learning curve in using vid editing programs but most use similar interfaces.
I also like Filmora as it is simple to make screen shots from your footage.
Most of these programs will have trial versions to give you an idea what would best for you.
