Did I handle this reasonably?

Hi everyone! I wish my first post on this forum were a little more positive, but I just had a bad experience with a guy on Twitter and need to know if I handled it properly. And if I did, you all should be warned about this person.

I literally just launched headfirst into this new adventure less than a week ago, and even though I did a ton of research beforehand, I'm constantly learning as I go. I created a Twitter account this past Wednesday to advertise my Manyvids store and my camming. This guy, whose feed consists of porn clips, tagging models and telling them they're beautiful, asking for follow-backs, etc (red flag #1) tagged me, followed me, and messaged me. He linked me to his Clips4sale store and told me that he would give me $1400 to come to my city and film me in a B/G porn where he would be the B (LOL ok buddy. Pay me more than the top porn actresses get for a B/G scene. Red flag #2). Indeed, his store was full of videos of him fucking women in hotel rooms. Hmm.

As dubious as I was curious, I told him I would consider it as long as my husband could be present for a solo shoot, or if he could be the male performer in a B/G shoot. He said this was okay, under the conditions that my husband would not be paid (we would get $1400 firm, supposedly), that it would be a POV BJ scene, and that my husband should have at least a half hour of stamina. I told him this was all totally fine. Then he asked to see one of my videos. I directed him to my Manyvids store and told him of the best one. I only have three videos so far, and two of them were only ever intended to be a part of my husband's private collection until recently. So the one I wanted him to see was the porniest, 15 minutes long, and a POV BJ scene.

This is where he balked. He didn't want to spend $9.99 on my video. I offered to give him a 25% discount, and said that I'd be happy to deduct the price of the video from the $1400. He said he needed to think about it. I asked him what about it made him hesitate, because I was learning about the business and wanted to know if I did anything wrong. I asked him if he would honestly do the same and let me see one of his Clips4sale videos for free.

He said, quote, "i'm uncomfortable because i think you should offered(sic) to show me your vid for free because i'm the employer here. and at this point i can send your mail a vid of mine for free if you want"

WTF!!?? So I try my hardest to remain professional at this point even though I want to lay into this jerk. I replied:

"Well you haven't employed me yet. Should you gain unpaid access to my videos and fail to proceed with hiring me for your shoot, you will essentially be stealing from me. You must be aware of how girls are so frequently taken advantage of in this business? I've literally just started my career, and don't have much to show for it yet. You have probably dozens of videos while I have three, at best. So you can afford to send me a free one. I have offered to fully reimburse you for your purchase (which you're in control of because you're the one signing the check when it's all said and done), but understand that I cannot release my videos for free under any circumstances, even with this pretense of potential employment. My position is not unreasonable. But if you think that it is, then it's time to part ways."

It's been a few hours now and he hasn't replied. So that's that. I wanted to tell you all about this and find out if I am taking crazy pills here, or is this guy trying to scam me (and probably many other cam models/porn actresses)? I don't have a frame of reference besides what I believed made logical sense. I know there are predators and scammers everywhere and it's nearly impossible to trust anyone who makes offers like this. I don't understand why he couldn't pay for the damn video, when he was the one who approached me with this offer, intending to invest in me. Was it too much to ask? I probably shouldn't have wasted my time, but I was interested to see where it would go. What do you all think? And if I was correct in my actions (obviously besides giving this guy the time of day at all), I will let you know who he is so you all can watch out for him.

TL;DR: Porn guy on Twitter offers to shoot me and pay me a lot of money (lmao more than pro porn actresses) for a POV BJ scene between me and my husband, but is apparently too cheap to buy my video in order to check my skills. (Guy has a Clips4sale store but has never heard of Manyvids, by the way) I feel like I handled this appropriately but due to my inexperience I want to make sure that I wasn't being unreasonable. And if this guy was definitely trying to prey on my naivete I need to warn you all about him.

Edit: Small formatting change, fixed typo.

You handled it very professionally and reasonably. He was obviously trying to take advantage of your "new girl" status, possibly thinking you were naive. The vids of him fucking other women were probably not paid, there's a lot of women who do that type of thing for free/fun. So they were probably in his feed as bait to get free vids from other girls with the promise of a huge paycheck. After 5 years I wish I had $1 for every time a guy said this kind of crap to me.

Another common scam is guys saying they will buy a lot of vids or order a ton of customs if you just give them a discount on the first one (or a free one). BS! BS! BS! It's always BS, if he can't cough up the $3 for my cheapest clip, or watch my free YouTube vids, he's not worth my time. Direct customers to your free YouTube intro vid if they insist they want to see how you move or talk before ordering.

Another common one is for a "cam test" to test if your cam is working. It's just a cheap trick to get your Skype and to get you to chat with them or get you on cam. I usually say "sure let's do a test" but then I have the camera pointed at the wall or my fridge or something so that I'm not in frame. Real custies won't complain, but the time wasters will insist they need to see you on cam.

You are very professional, and real custies in the future will take notice and appreciate it.
