Turning audio off, being silent or using some sort of headset?

Right, so I live in a house share since a few months back and that has been my excuse for not getting on cam since then. I have tried to work out when my housemates leave the house, so that I would be able to get busy then, but the fact is that there's always someone home, and since the walls aren't that thick, it's fairly easy to hear what's going on in most parts of the house, especially my room since it's so fantastically located that everybody passes by it whenever they need to go somewhere - and I am fairly sure that you can probably hear it from the kitchen as well.

While talking to my regulars in about whatever it may be, doesn't concern me, my worries are for when I am taken private or when I perform a show.
Doing sexual noises and risking that my housemates hear (which they probably will) is not something that I feel comfortable about doing (they don't know that I'm a camgirl).

So I have been thinking about if it would work to turn off my audio or to just remain silent, but I have a feeling that doing so wouldn't work in my favor. Does anyone have any experience of that that they would like to share?

A regular also suggested that maybe I could wear some sort of headset and as such be less vocal, which I have to admit sounds like a fairly good idea, but I have no idea if it would work. Again, anyone with experience?

Or does anyone have any other ideas? It's frustrating to have this standing in the way of me going back on cam..
