Webcamming, porn and the law

Since I began camming I wondered why some of the things that are against the code of conduct on many sites are banned. Most of these things get classified as "taboo". I of course understand why anything with a minor, rape, bestiality or incest is disallowed, but I find myself wondering why simulations of these acts is disallowed as well as why shows involving acts with urine, feces, vomit and menstrual blood.

This led to me attempting to look up pornography laws due to curiosity and a desire to branch out and start my own "taboo" website to capitalize on fetishes that are a little icky to some models and therefor potentially not as accessible. As it turns out it's more difficult than I imagined to find these laws, obviously they differ by location which makes it more difficult. I'm in northern California and all I've done so far is confirm that actual acts of sex with minors, incest, bestiality and rape are illegal (duh). I've found nothing yet specifically stating whether simulations of these acts are illegal as well or hinting at why so many cam and content sites have banned content containing certain fluids or acts involving them.

On top of not finding any clarification on legality of content I began to question the legality of filming when I came across an articles discussing the drop in porn filming permit requests in LA county. This made me stop and go whoa! Am I suppose to have a permit for this ?! But the only mention I could find of the permits was in reference to LA county.

This leads me to my questions for you guys:

1. Are we theoretically suppose to have permits for filming porn when we are web camming or recording videos?

2. Are "taboo" acts legal in porn in northern California if there is no actual sex with a minor, incest, bestiality or rape?

I would really appreciate any thoughts or information you guys have. Or if you know of somewhere to specific to look for better answers. Thanks!

So I was tempted to respond to this when I first saw it, but I couldn't give you much practical knowledge about anything specific. If I were you, and still looking for info., I would try to find someone who is running a site similar to what you are looking to do and just send an email asking politely if they might chat with you. Or find a forum somewhere, if it exists dedicated to the intricacies of doing porn. Hell, I might even approach someone who wrote a recent online article about the new porn laws and ask for a referral. That's how i would always go about seeking knowledge on subjects when I had a project in the corporate world. I built a career based on being nice and asking questions.

It's about building relationships and offering something in return when you are asking for a favor. So say something like- when I build my site, I will link back or "I realize your time is valuable and I'd be willing to promote your site if you could help point me in the right direction".

My recent case in point- I have gotten permission from artists to use their music in some of my videos. I was trying to post Dailymotion videos and they were being taken down because of copyright flagging- which i know is bad, but I saw a million other twerk videos with girls using music. Finally, I started asking people on Twitter if I could do this and they said absolutely.

Don't be shy to ask, and you'll be surprised what you get back if you are polite and willing to give something back.
