Whats going on with Streamate?

While I see that we have a new signer on our pay, the parent company ICF. Iam concerned about the revisions to the agreement. I have to take a good look at it but on other message boards there is much buzz about it, leaving many American Models seeking legal advice. It has been claimed that now Streamate will have complete ownership of our name that we use with them. Hoping to find out if that is true or not. Also it has been stated that they will require a business license from us in the U.S. That means a great deal. Who wants to take this business to city hall. I have googled it and it seems in Florida anyhow if you are an independant contractor you must have a business licence. I am wondering if that is possible for the south is very christian and i am sure it would be breaking local ordinences..... Anyone know anything?

1. Regarding who's signing our checks:
I'm one of the people who lobbied hard for them to change our checks & tax paperwork. Since joining SM 4 years ago it's been a HUGE pet peeve of mine that the only people receiving checks actually say, STREAMATE on them (rather than a 'cloaked' name like ICF) are us models. Everyone else, like office workers, computer programmers, & other corporate types have had ICF on their checks so that their banks, accountants, lenders or landlords wouldn't know that they actually work for a smut peddler.

WE on the other hand have been vulnerable. So the name change on our paperwork is wonderful news! Now if someone does our taxes & wonders how are we making so much money working from home, they can't find us.

Google: ICF
Can you tell what business we're in?
Google: Streamate.
Can you tell what business we're in?
Case closed. The name change is a GREAT thing!

2. **** This is solely MY point of view & personal take ****

I'm not in any way an authority or speak for the company, but from what I understand the bit about 'owning our names' etc. is more of a clause to cover their legal ass in case you decide to get out of this biz and then attempt to bite SM in the ass. As someone pointed out in another thread, try as you might to 'hide' yourself from public view, it's impossible. If you eventually quit the biz and marry a political candidate and want your complete history on video & the internet to disappear, it NEVER will. In deciding to do erotic webcamming on a platform that LEGALLY has to record us, there is a video tape trail which we will never be able to erase. Streamate can control what they've recorded, but if guys are doing screen captures, posting us on tube sites and the like, well that's totally OUT OF SM's control.

Our business, and the scammers who screen capture us, or the videos & photos we upload ourselves are on the internet to haunt us for pretty much all eternity. Ya know?

Camming is kind of like getting a tattoo. Once we stream our video, there's really no way to get it removed from the interwebz. So whether it's a tattoo or camming, you'd better consider the long term consequences before moving forward.

So in conclusion, I believe the NEW Section H points are listed to protect the company from anyone trying to sue them. By them 'owning' your name, you can't sue them about it. See? As long as we never sue the company, I think we're all going to be fine and our name/trademark will never be an issue.

**** REPEAT: This is solely MY point of view & personal take ****

3. Nudity not allowed IN PUBLIC FREE CHAT, creating concerns that we can't show our boobs before private.
It seems to me it's the same wording we've always had.
My understanding is that nothing about showing our boobs has changed.
As always, no below the belt nudity in PUBLIC FREE CHAT.

I am a little concerned and confused as well. While I love the idea of not having the name Streamate visible on my check, I'm concerned about my rights to name ownership. I was planning a future with my stage name and brand. How will these changes affect that? There are plenty of professional pornstars on SM, so how will it affect models who already own their names? Wemcam models seem to have very few rights unless they are making enough to afford lawyers. Uhg. So many questions.
